AUCKLAND CATTLE MARKET.
Mr Buckland reports as follows : — The various etock for sale tliis day at the Haymarket, occasioned a more full attendance* than usual. The sheep ■were first offered, and the best of them realized but low values. The import? d Kirkham rara brought. L3O ; the Dudding ram L 43 ; the prizn ram hoggetts at the late show, L 6 5s to L 7 ss ; others as low as L 4. The short-horn bull Sulton. £45. Horse stock were in usual numbers, with ar improved inquiry, and many sales were effected. An unbroken draught filly, L4O 5a ; broken drausrbt stock, L3O to L4O ; well bred riding stock, 25 to 30 guineas ; medium riding horses, LI2 to LlB ; inferior, from L 5 ss. At the hide and skin sale there was the usual attendance. Hides were slightly lower in price ; skins at late values, and prices for wool were rather higher than those ruling on Wednesday last. Damaged hides brought from 2d <o 31, good hides, 3£d to 3sd, calfskins 4£ the lb ; sheep skins 2a 4d to 5« 6d each, locks and pieces 3d to sid the lb. Wool, in grease, B£d to 9fcd the lb. At Pipakura, on Wednesday, above 500 head of cattle were yarded, a great number of them three-year-old, and grown catile in fresh condition. There was s numerous attendance of buyers, and equable bidding throughout the sale. Young cattle freely maintained late values; but grown cattle were lower than a month since, from 5s to 10s pet h p ad. Remueea — On Thursday very fevr dairy cattle were penned, those were in fair inquiry at late values, Store cattle numerous, above 300 penned, mostly young cattle, from 12 to 18 months old. There was a steady demand for th^m at late values. Fat cattle in usual supply : 132 head penned. Auckland fatted were of good quality, and slightly lower in price - from la to 2s fid tho 1001b. Shipborne ox •St Kilda.' •were at much lower value", but they had suffered a pond deal from their shipment, and many were bought by praziers. Store sheep were in limited numbers, and at late values Fat sheep were plentiful : abont 800 sold ; prices irregular, but, on the whole, lower Jd per lb. Ltmbs in full supply and maintained loft week's values.
Pigs lit extreme valupp, particularly storpa. ' PHRisTcmTAcn. — Tlie Lyttlkton Times of %ht 13th instant reports : -"Transftctiona during the week have, in consequence bl the holiday iTdMo of a limited character, an 1 we thprefore repeat last week's quotations :— Whea*-, 4s, at Christchurch station ; oats, 2a 31; barley, nominal; butter, 9d ; cheese, 8d to %\d (for prime -old) t potatoes, 40s, nominal. There is little or no demand for either grain or produce for ontside markets; conseqently the oxport business is very dull. Provision curera report :— Hams Had bacon, bare Hid, to Is, fo.b. at Lyttelton."
