ENTERTAINMENT AT ALEXANDRA. AIEXANDRA, NOT. Ist. 1875.

The late concert wu a complete success. The Hall was got up* in thoroughly theatrical •trie, unequalled hitherto in the Waikato, and tho attendance was select and numerous. Tho performance commenced with a glee by the Alexandra Harmonic Society ; after which, came several solos and nigger" farces. Where everyone acquitted themselves co well, it would be invidious to mention names, more especially as amateurs are not desirous of seeing themselves m print, Th* first solo was "The Arab's farewell to his favourite steed" rendered splendidly bj a lady, whose contralto voice, lean safely say, it not equalled in the Waikato ; after whict came "TbeLittlo Brown Jug" in character, by a well known gentleman amateur, followed by the song of "Driven from Home," beautifully rendered by a lady who*e roice will bear critiCl » m - JJ r Forbes, former member of the Diamond Troupe in Auckland, then gave "Lore •amongst the Roses" with dance, which quite brought down the house. A gentleman from Cambridge next sang " The Heart Bowed Down" ma most masterly manner, followed br a comic song, by a gentleman well known in the district?/ for his inimitable manner of rendering Iris/i songs. A beautiful solo on the clarionet by a perfect master of the instrument, followed by a Wegra Burlesque, Ballet, closed the first p.rt of the performauce. After an interval of 10 minutes a trio •• Y« shepherd* tell me" opened the next portion of the proceedings. " Cathleen Aroon" and the "Fairy Bells" wore sweetly sang by a lady, who has been to Humilton O n more than one occasion to a<sist at local Concerts. "The Murmur of the Shell" by the same lady who sang the " Arab Steed," was deservedly applauded and encored. « I lore thee," a Nigger Song with dance, and an iriah comio Song with " I Never can Jjorget" by the same lady who sang " Driven from Home ;" a second solo and Nigger Fare* with » gloo "Good Night" concluded the proceedings. Dincin* immediately commenced, and, m consequence of the wet night, was continued until daylight. Mr Searancke kindly took the chair, and conducted the business with his customary courtesy and ability. I uuderatand that the English Church Committee will chortly gire a Soiree and Concert which must be a success, if the lut of performers whom I have heard menttoned is correct. The funds collected will be more than sufficient to cover the expenses for which the Concert wan given.- Occiskhtal Cob* I BKSPOWDBNT.
