THE HAMILTON BUTCHERS.
Sib, — Ah the head of a large family allow ms to join issue with " Paterfamilias " ia his protest against the Hamilton butchers. They aro proverbial for cbeek, and Mr Wood's letter fairly comes up to the standard. His would-b* facetious way of treating the question raised, - is no answer to the charge of "Paterfamilias," viz., that cattle are driven to Auck« land and sold as meat at a much lower prict than in Waikato. His letter is, to say the least, uncivil and a subterfuge, and not one of a respectable, honourable tradesman, dependent upon the public for hii living, and Mr Wood may foel quite assured that however tolerant he may have found the Hamilton publio in th« past they will ere long find a remedy for high prices amounting to an imposition backed up by insolence: Lefc him answer the queition raised fairly if he can. — I am, &c. Arix, Hamilton, October 15tk, 1875.
