Thi origin of the fire which destroyed the Messrs Sherrets' whare, is unknown, but it is surmised to be a spark from a pipe. The building itself was worthleas, but the oirntrs lost a ronnirferable amount by the contents being destroyed, consisting of seed oata, ftra^s seed, and hHCon, &c. For the p»ai week ther Ins been a decided improvement in the weather, and out door work is being pushed nh^ad a little, getting in the potatoecrop being now the most important, thing to he done. Jhe Boird of Education hive declined to h»Te this rande a school dihtrwt, as at present they have not the funds. On Sunday ereninp last, a little girl the daughter of a German settler here, named Pohlen, was lost in the bush, she went out to look af'er the pigs, tbe poor lirtie thing was not found UHtil Monday afternoou, but did not seem to be ary the worse for sleeping out *ll night. A tew days bafk, some thietes entered the hou-e of a settler here named Byrne, while he was ou». at work, and stole a new loaf and all bis best clothe?, some natives who have been pig tmnting in the Ptrongia bush are the supposed thieves, as 'he home is on the ed«e of the buah and out, »f the way of all strangers. — (d BRKSPOND ENT. )
