Auckland, Monday. A Press Cricket Club has been successfully formed. Frederick Smith, a settler, haa been swept over the bar at Hokianga. An enemy of the Good Templars at Onehunga, mixed brandy with the water drunk during the initiation ceremony.
Christcuurch. Edwards, champion walker, v*on easily in a match in which ho walked far a wager , 70 yards while Green ran 100 yards. Edwards failed in attempting to walk 7 miles iv on hour, by an excess of G£ sees.
Wellington, Monday. The Auckland Football Cnampiona were severely incapacitated by their sea voyage, and played not half as well as on their own gruund. The Wellington team was composed of great stalwart fellows who could hare eaten the Aucklanders. There were 2,000 people on the ground, i who crowded very much, and causid great inconvenience to the players. Wellington won easily by 15 points. Wellington : 8 ruses, equal 4 points. 3 tries, equal to 1 goal, equal 6. Total, 16. Auckland : 2 ruses equal 1 point. The Aucklanders ware entertained at dinner, and loudly cheered on embarking.
