PARLIAMENTARY. (From our Special Correspondent.) Wellington, Monday.
The Opposition obstruction which put forth a great effort on Friday, will be futile, and the measures must pass. With the exception of Reader Wood, the speakers were merely talking against time, but they fairly broke down at two o'clock on Saturday morning, after repeatedly attempting to get an adjournment, which was every time negatived on the voices. The final division for going into Committee to-morrow, was carried by 37 against 15, although several Government supporters were absent. This should show the country again, the unanimity of feeling in the House. Reader Wood's speech was really an able effort and he severely retaliated on William Buckland for insinuating that his conduct was actuated by considerations of Provincial Secretaryship. If the Opposition persist in obstruction, the Government will move that the House sit continuously.
