The Dover Cistle has been released from quarantine. In reply to a telegram anannouncinaj a petition ur^ins; the Aucklaud members to contest tlie Abolition Bill word by worl, Sir Ooorge Grey telegraphs that his pxrty will remain firm to the end. It is expected Government will withdraw the Local Government Bill, bnt endeavour to force the Abolition Bill this session. The Mauku electors almost unanimously resolved in favour of immedate Abolition.
Newcastle, Wednesday evening.
The S. Waikato arrived at' 12 noon, C hours from Morcer here. She#oes onto Cambridge in the morning at 6. The TC. Y. M. have been paid off to-day. Several parties of them have taken contracts to continue the work from here to Hamilton.
