THE MINERS' RIGHTS MYSTERY.
The " New Zealand Herald " of yesterday states : — "The Ohmemuri mjstery, with respect to possession of miners' rights previous to the time, they were formally issued, has been cleared up. Our special corre^onJent sends, lnat nisjht, that Briesenr'en, "When examined by the Ohinerauri Committee, was asked a direct question. Mr Moorehouse, who w»9 present for Bnasenden, contended that his client could not be forced to reply to a qurstion which might criminate Mm&elf The committee, however, insisted upon an answer being given, wh«a Brissenden admitted that he in conjunction with O'ifalloran, brother-in-law of Mackay, obtained the rights in a surreptitious manner. What action will be taken oa this confession remains to be iceu."
