TOTAL ABSTAINERS AND WHISKEYITES.

The long talked of riiio match between a team of Total Abstainers and ivi equal number of "whiskeyites" carae off on the rifle-range yesterday afternoon, commencing at 2 p.m. The weather having cleared up, the firing was conducted under comparatively favorable cireum-itauces. Thero was a light breeze blowing across the range from the left, but not strong enough to seriously impair the shooting. Mr Coleman, senr., made soino good steady shooting, and though the score of MrMurray was not sj brilliant, it was very meritorious. It is believed that, with Cjlem.in, junr. in the Total Abstainer team, it would be in a position to suce.ssfully compete with any team in the district. It is therefore credit able to the opposite team that they made such an excellent score. After the third shots at the 400 yards range the relative scores were even, and in shooting off the other two, there w.is a great deal of excitement. Mr Whi taker rendered good service by acting as marker. The affair passed off most satisfactorily, the best feeling existing on both side?.
