The Chairmiu read thejjuotice convening the meeting from the Waikato Tim esi. Major George, Messrs M. J Glashan, W. A. Murray, VV.E. Chepnell, A. W Gubbins, and J. Seccombe were proposed as Trustees. A poll having bjen taken, the tire first were declared dul> elec cd. Messrs Walker and Brunner were elected Auditors ; and Major T. N. George, Treasurer. It was pr iposed by Mr Walker, and seoonded by Mr Chepnell, that all land in the district be valued at £1 p3r acre for the purpose of rating. Major "Wilson propose , as an amendment, which was seconded by Mr Moon, that the freehold and leasehold lands should be valued, separately. The amendment being put to the meeting was lost, only the proposer and secon ler voting for it. The original molion was therefore carried. Pr >po9ed by Mr Gubbins, and seconded by Mr T. Morrin, that the rate bj one penny in the pound on the value to sell. Major Wilson proposod, and Mr Moon seconded, pro forma, as an amendment, that the rate he id in the pound on the value to sell, aud 6J in the pound on annual value or leasehold. The proposer being the only ratepayer present who voted for the amendment, the original motion was carried. This concluded the business of the meeting. At a meeting of the new Trustees, held immediately after, Major George v>as elected Chairman, and the Board arranged to m«et at the same place, on Saturday, the 14fch, to fix t l ie ass>sment list.
