THE LATE THOMAS BECKHAM.
The funeral of the late Thos. Beekhara was a private one, but about 100 persons attended, most of whom were colonists of twenty years standing and over. Amongst those who acted as chief mourners were Mr Whitaker, Judge Fenton, Mr Barstow, (R. M.), Dr Campbell, Mr T. Macffarlane, •Sergeant Hinde, and the Rev. Mr Ashwell. The General Government was represented by Major Green, the Resident Agent. The Constabulary by Inspectors Thomson and Broham. these were followed by Judge Monro, Major Tisdall, Messrs George Harflington, S. Browning, Haliday, and Captain Thomas. After these came the representatives of legal and business firms. The rear of the procession was brought up by carriages occupied by the immediate frwuds of the family. Dr. Cowie officiated at the funeral ob sequies, assisted by the Yen. ArchdeaconMaunsell, and the Rev. T. B. Dudley.
