AUCKLAND. (From Our Special Correspondent.) Painful Accidents. The New Slaughter-house. Monday Evening.
A serious accident occurred to-day on board the Macgregor, to Lawrence Ddlyiel, the stoker, while engaged in the coal-hole. Half of an iron bucket fell from above striking him in the side of the face and inflicting severe wounds. Pie was taken to the hospital. Harry Bowman, employed in Lamb's mill, Riverhead, got Ms hand drawn in between the millstones; one of the fingers was turn off, and the hand was severely mutilated. A ilood at Kawakawa washed away Black's bridge, and .several tons of gum, valued at £160. The City Council has resolved to erect the proposed new slaughter-house at Low and Motion's creek. The Ma sgregor sailed this afternoon for San Fiuncisco, with sixteen saloon and seven steerage passengers from New Zel^nd.
