Tauranga, Wednesday. Prior to the departure of Mr Langbridge, one of the new proprietors and manager of the Waikato Times, the following address was presented to him : — "Tauranga, May 24, 1875.— W. B. Langbridge, Esq. — My dear Rir, — It is with regret we learn from a paragraph in the local paper, that you are about to leave Tauranga. Since you first came amongst us as Editor of the "Bay of Plenty Times," you have made many and warm friends. The position of a journalist is at any time one difficult to sustain, but at tie first starting of a paper, when so much depends upon the Editor, his qualities are more particularly tested. Anyone who has watched the progress of the " Bay of Plenty Times " under your guidance, will we are sure, give you every credit for the manner in which that publication has been conducted. There are numerous local improvements that may be traced to its able advocacy, and th.it what was before an almost unknown district, has now become through its .means, fully recognised as an important se^tkme?kt \ the oolony. Whilst regretting the loss'to-cki&^oidniHinity by your removal, we congratulaSv whom you may be placed, on the possession ifc their midst of one noted for his integKty, urbanity, and kindliness of heart, of one who is always sure to carry with him wherever he goes the well wishes of many friends. We are, dear sir, yours very faithfully." The address was signed by nearly every settler in the Bay of Plenty, from Resident Magistrate and Officer Corcmanding the District downwards. A valuable diamond ring is the substantial token of respect and esteem of the public.
