ANTI-PLANTERS. To the Editor of the Waikato Times.

Dear Sir, --In this day's issue of your journal I find a strange article about " Horse Planting." The planter signs himself '• Anti-Planter." The qnaintness of the article amused me. The truth, however, that underlies it caused me to blush for shame. Why 1 Because I verily believe the writer all the time refers to Cambridge. A rev. gentleman missed a horse up here a short time ago. About a fortnight after I observed a notice on the walls, offering a £1 note reward for the discovery of the same. Within the last few days I have learned that the coachman conveyed to Hamilton a pony, answering the description on the notice. I Weighing these facts together in my mind, Mr Editor, I must come to the conclusion that Cambridge enjoys the unenviable reputation of having in it guch a glorious individual as "Anti-Planter *' describes. To dp sure, Cambridge is not mentioned in the article. However, we up here who are acquainted with the facts of the case more or lass, cannot help acknowledging that we are fostering a " Planter " in our midst. To be serious, nobody's animal is safe, if a professional 'of the kind lives in our midst. And live there he does, if rumours and whispers be true. What a nuisance in a township. I make these remarks with a view to the public good of the Waikato in geneml, but to this township in particular. The authorities, I hope, will take steps to detect the nuisance. Horse-owner. Cambridge, April 8, 1875.
