THE RAGLAN ROAD. To the Editor of the Waikato Times.

Sir, — I have headed this letter wrong, for I should have put track instead of road, as that is all the so called road is, and a very bad track too. Now, I want to know how it is, with so much money being spent on public works, that a trifle out of the millions cannot be spent on the said track or road. It is now in a most disgraceful state, and when the wet weather setsNp will be all but impassable for a horse. It is nearly S£ now. On this side of the range, the three furze "hedges are in good order, as the contractor for«railway sleepers has had to put them in order to draw B%timber over. On the other side, from the foot of \Jie range, to the Waitetuna bridge, there is not one of the bridges safe for a horse to cross, and some are gone all together, and travellers have to ford the creek, which can be done now ; but will be anything but safe in winter. I wish the Minister for Public Works had to ride over to Raglan on his next visit to the Waikato, and I think he would then soon do something to the road. If the money now being squandered in building ten houses for immigrants, in a town full of empty houses, the owner of which would have been glad to let them, had been spent on the road, it would have shown more sense on the part of those who have the control of the department. Hoping you will find room for the above, as it is a subject that requires showing up by the press.— l have, &c. 'Traveller. Harapepe, March 24, 1875.
