AGRICULTURAL SHOW AT TE AWAMUTU.
The show which has now become an annual event, took place on Tuesday last, at Te Awamutu, There was a large attendance of settlers who live in the neighbourhood of the exhibition, and a fair sprinkling from other parts of the district, we wish we could say that the exhibits from other parts of the "Waikato were even in proportion to the number of visitors. The paddock selected for the show was rather rough, and some of it had been recently burnt off, and owing to the late dry weather the dust was very troublesome. Farmers, however, should not be troubled much by small inconvenien ces of this description. Mr Kirkwood had a booth on the ground at which the thirsty could get relief. There was considerable discussion on the ground as to whether ti^e show was equal to that of last year, in our opinion it was not quite ; as regards cattle-, sheep, and horses, there were fewer entries, but the quality was quite up ta the standard: We missed the thoroughbred horses from the ground which last year attracted so much attention. The show of produce was not so good either as to the number of exhibits or their quality. There was only one representative of the porcine species, which is to be regretted, as bacon and ham should be one of the principal exports from the Waikato. We commenced our tour of inspection with.
