LICENSING COURT.
A quarterly meeting of the Licensing Oourt for the districts of Mangapiko, Rangiaohia and Cambridge, was held at the latter place on Wednesday last, An application was inada by Archibald Clements for a transfer of the license for the Masonic Hotel, Cambridge, from himself to Edward Hewitt. There was no opposition either on the part of the public or the police, and the application was therefore granted. The Court for Newcactle. Rangariri, and Whargape was opened by the Clerk of the Licensing Bench on Thursday. As there was no business to be transacted it was adjourned suie die. Api'opos of this subject; we hear that the difficulty experienced by many in placing an interpretation upon portions of the Licensing Act, is already making itself sorely felt. It is reported that two publicans are already in a very awkward position through having misundeistood the meaning of some of its clauses. It will certainly be a very hard case, if we have been lightly informed, that a man's license should be placed in jeopardy for this cause.
