RESIDENT MAGIS TRATE'S COURT. (Before W. N. Searancke Esq , RM)
James Newton was charged on the information 1 of William Lovell, of Taupiri, With larceny as" a bailee. It appeared that Mr Lovell had engaged the accused to work at splitting posts and rails, and had supplied him with tools for the purpose. Subsequently the accused refused to work, and would not give up the implements. He was sentenced to one month's hard labour. John Boston was charged with a breach of the Master and Servant's Act. Thomas Blackmore, baker, deposed : Accused was engaged by him as a weekly servant, and had left his employ without giving notice. The Court oidered that accused should forfeit all wages due to him, and that costs should be paid out of buck wages.
