WELLINGTON. Monday.
Parliament was prorogued at 3 p.m. 24 members were present, but very, few visitors. The Hon. J. Vogel announced thnt Mr Russell wns going to Sidney to ro-amiiigo the Californium mail contract. The Governor delivered an unusually long prorogation speech. He said that it was the fast occasion he would have the honor of addressing them. He anticipated great benefit would be derived from the State Forest s Act. He regretted their having been unable to deal with the Polynesian question this session. He hoped that the Provincial Governments of the North Island would loyally recognise the decision of Parliament regarding the abolition of -Provinces, and assist in making the change as little inconvenient as possible.
