PARLIAMENTARY. (Daily Southern Cross Special Correspondent.) Monday.
A caucus of Provincialists was held this morning, at the Provincial Government Buildings, when there were present all the members who vole I against ib.9 Government resolutions, also O'Rorke, White, and others who were locked out on the taking of the division. It was unanimously resolved to support Fitzherbert in a motion to the effect that after the proposals of the Government have been embodied in bills, Parliament should be dissolved, and the opinion of the country taken upon the question at a general election. The greatest enthusiasm and unanimity prevailed, and the caucus made arrangements for disseminating throughout the country the fullest possible information of the present position of public affairs. Sinking all other considerations they determined that a stand should be made against the present personal government and against the repeated violations of all constitutional usages. A large sum of money was at once subscribed, and movements will be initiated in all the principal centres of population during the recess. It was further resolved that no debate should be invited upon Fitzherbert's resolutions, as it was certain that they would bo negatived, and that a protest should thus be made against fundamental changes without an appeal to the people. There is little regret here at the Governor's retirement. He has not made himself popular, and people are touting here to raise subscriptions for the cost of it departing dinner.
