At Thursday evening's .sitting of the Hon.se of Representath es little of impoi.tj.nce transpired, the business was chiefly formal. Tlie Registration Amendment Bill was withdrawn, the Government promised to consider the matter timing the recess. At the sale of New Zealand Steam Shipping Company's htcvvmevs, Mr John Martin bid 155,000. The company bought in their vessels for £75,000. Mr Buck land presented a petition with over 1500 signatures in favor of Mr Vogel's amending the Licensing Bi)). Mr Fox peesented a petition from G'hristchtirch in favor of existing law. In reply to Mv White, Mr JRicbard.son said the Government did not intend to introduce si Distiict Courts Bill this hes>sion. Seveml new clauses were added to the Imprisonment for Debt Abolition Bill, providing for imprisonment for debt in certain cases, and providing that imprisonment does not wipe out debt. The Bill passed. In speaking to the New Zealand Forest Bill, all speakers so far have complimented the Premier upon the masterly manner in which lie had brought the matter before the House, but the majority thought that the question, although of vast importance, was prematurely opened.
