Mr Ryburn moved, ' That an addrew be presented to hit Honor the Superintendent, requesting him to appropriate the nim of £100, to assist the Mount Wellington Highway Board in maintaining the road leading from the Tamaki Bridge to the Ilarp of Erin. Such sum to be taken out of the vote of £G,OOD for the maintenance and extension of Roads South of Auckland.' — Agreed to. Mr Macready moved, ' That the Interim Report of the Select Committee appointed to inquire into the management of the Mount Eden Gaol, presented to the Council on Friday lost, be adopted.' — Agreed to. Mr Roche moved, ' That a respectful andress be presented to Ins Honor the Superintendent, requesting him to place on the Supplementary Estimates the sum of £80 — to increase the salaries of the Senior Keeper and male and female attendants of the Provincial Lunatic Asylum by 10s per month.' — Agreed to. The Sheep Act 1863 Amendment Bill was read a second time, and passed through all its remaining stages. The Fencing BUI and the Impounding Bill were read a third time, and passed. The estimates for the six months from the Ist January to 30th June, 1875, were received by the Superintendent and passed. They were formed on the basis of the estimates of 187 1. laf the amounts of the different votes in those eitibewg put down. The other portion of the proceedings of the Council appeared in our telegrams last issue.
The Council approved of the Superintendent's message r elative to tlio establishment of a Reformatory for juvenile riminals. The Educational Reserve Sale Bill was read a third time ami passed The Members' Remuneration Bill was read a second time, considered in committee, amended so as to proride that country members should raceive 15s per clay whilst actually in attendance, the sum so received not to exceed £30 per se-sioo. The Bill was read a third time and passed. The Haurnki District Fire Rate Act 1872, Amendment .Act 187J, was committed, reported with amendments and passed. The Manpapiko Rond Bill, the Fencing Act Suspension Bill and tlio Supremo Court Site Bill were passed. The Public Buildings Act after being considered in committee wiiB road a wond and third time and passed. Tlie report of the Waste Lands Committee wa6 adopted. ' On the motion of Mr Hamlin it was agreed that the Superintendent should be requested to employ a competent person to eurvey and report upon the entrance to Port Waikato, with u new of having beacons, &c., properly placed, and also to appoint a signalman for the same port. *It was agreed that the Superintendent should be requested more the General Government to set apart tho laud at Mangero belonging to the General Government for public gardens and places of recreation. " On the motion of Mr Hnmlin it was agreed that, if necessary, the Government should give further assistance to the tobacco manufactory commenced ill Pnpakuru. It was resolved that the Superintendent should be requested to use his influence with the General Government with tlio view of connecting Raglan with the Waikato district by telegrnph. On the motion of Mr Carpenter it was agreed that the Superintendent should be letjuested to cause a reduction to be made in the rate of storage of Wasting ponder iv the Auckland magazine to the extent of one-half the amount now charged.
