Two curious occurrences aro reported as having; happened in church recently. The Murray and Hume Times states that not a hundred miles from Border, as a worthy clergyman was preaching from the text, " And there shall be light at eventide," one of the lamps — which, l'ke those of the foolish virgins, had not been supplied with their modicum of oil — went out, leaving clergyman and congregation 111 all but total darkness, and causing them to wish for a practical realisation of the words of the text. No light camo however, and the congregation had to disperse to their several homes. The Talbot Leader gives an incident of a different character : — ' A young man, who belongi to a ' sot ' among w horn euchre is the principal intellectual study, took a young lady to church the other Sunduy ovening, and fell into a gentle doze before the minister had reached his ' thirdly. ' He cannot explain how it happened, but just us the reverend gentleman said something about the ' last lamp, the young man earnestly ejaculated " I'll go alone ! ' The young lady saj s the next time he can 'go alono ' fjr she won't co with him. And ebe left him to go hon.^lon;, too.
