The result ot to-d lys polling was— Wales, G32 ; Barton, 512; Grant, 39. Tho Licensing Court has been adjourned for a week. A great many bottle licenses r. fused to storekeepers, and several houses in (own were refused licenses. The bar has been abolished from the theatre, and the license taken away from the City Bullet fiw-and-easy. The Court lias distinctly laid down that no public house must hare more than one bar. There is great excitement in town about the election. Greymouth, Thursday. Tho Licensing Bench has been sitting for two days. There were 120 application* made for town and country ; 89 wore granted, nir-luding 15 wholesale and bottle licenses; 21 were refined and 11 adjourned. Wangamu, Thursday. All tho new applications for publicans' licenses were refused. Social publicans were cautioned. Mr Chad wick sold Mr Bro nil's stud j'eetorday. Loch invar fetched £ISO ; Polly £80 ; Flntcutcher, £30 ; Peer bought in, £50. Soverul other hor>cs were sold at good prices.
