VISIT OF HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR TO THE WAIKATO.

His Excellency the Governor left Auckland yesterday morning at a quarter past seven o'clock, and readied Ngaruawauia at a quarter past six iv the evening. Thoro was no ceremony of any kind till the Tice-rogal party reached Mangawara Crock, where a body of the Natiye Contingent under Sub-Inspector Tregoar presented anas. The party did not halt, however. Thry were met; at this point by Lieutenant-Colonel Lyoa and twenty five of the Mounted Constabulary, who rode as escort fco tho punt on the side of the Waikato River opposite Njaruawahia. The Governor and party consisting of His Excellency J. I>u Cane, Capt. tho Hon Seymour Eg.-rton, the Hon Dr Fallen, Capt. Fergusson, and Mr Chichester, then crossed the river and passed under the triumphal arch which was erected at the place of landing. It was composed of ferns nicely arranged, with tke word Welcome r in large letters above H. The arch wan erected by the inhabitants ot Ngaruawahia, who have always been found ready to show their loyalty to the Throne by receiving in the best manner at their disposal Her Majesty's representatives, ihero was a large crowd of natives and seltltrs- at the landjng, also a guard of honor of one hundred men, half Volunteer Lugineers and half Constabulary. The dotachmeuts ot the different corps were respectively und;r tho immediate command of Captain Rowe, and' Sub-Inspector Kenny. Major Cooper was in command of the whole. Immediately the Governor landed the guard presontod arms, and the Europeans and Natives ehfered. His Excellent and party immediately proceeded to. the Delta Hotel, where* apartments had been engaged for their accommodation. Wo understand that Hia Excellency expressed great satisfaction at the arrangements made by Mr C. G. Quick for his conveyance to the Waikato, »lso> with tho splendid driving of the veteran and universally liked coachman, Mr Carter. We understand that His Excellency will interview the natives early this morning, and afterwards will receive those settlers who are desirous of showing their respect.
