Wellington, Friftay. The Gorermnftßt i» about to make a commencement towards establishing a training establishment for seamen at Auckland. The schooner Southern Cross and the mission building hare been hired for twelre months. They expect soon to get a resiel from the Imperial Government.
Christcharch, Friday. There was s narrow eicape from fire tbis morning in the heart of the citj ; the roof of Spensley's music shop caught fire, and was extinguished with difficulty. Damage, £50. The Fire Brigade assembled very expeditioiuly.
Dunedin, Friday. There is snow on the hills round Dunedin. Two new railway stations are being erected at CaTersham and on Green Island. 2660 immigrants arriyed during the quarter ending March.
