Cambridge, Friday. A testimonal is in course of preparation to Mr Mackay from the Cambridge settlers. Fifty guineas are already Bubjerihed towards purchasing a present, which it is purposed shall bear an inscription expressive of the high opinion the settlers entertain of his services. It is also proposed to invite him to a public dinner* which vrill be giren him «n addition, m Heknowledgment of his efforts to advance the interests of the district, and for personal lerricej rendered to the settlers.
Auckland, Friday. James Crawford, master of the Elton Underwood, who attempted to take cargo up the Pinko to Capt Peacocke's farm has returned to Tamaki. The natires refused to allow hun to go up unless he paid £5 as blark mail. The Oxford Troupe left for the Waikato to-day.
