THE INTER-COLONIAL CRICKET MATCH.
Auckland has, for the third time, proved victorious. She has beaten Wellington with three wickiti to spare. It in a pity that the names of those who took the trotibl- to malign some of the team to our brethren in the South, are net made public. Any comment, from any Auckland man at any rate, excrpt as regards the cricketing capacity of the men was contemptible and snobbish. All true sportsmen value eacli otlur by thtir proficiency. Jealouy perhaps was the cause of the slurs. For our part, we are proud of oar team. They hnve beaten Canterbury with its large proportion of public school boys. They have beaten Dunedin, almost jilmhvs foremost in every undertaking whether for the promotion of wealth or amusement. Lastly, they have beaten Wellington the teat of Government, with its thousand-any-one of&Vials, with plenty of leisure to handle the bat -on ror croquet, hammer. All cncketeri will unite, we are confident, inipieeordinti to our victorious tenm as hearty a welcome as possible. Our space, un'oiJuwtely, will not allow ut to enter into minute details ot the piny. We must content ourselves with giving the score* nnd analysis of the bowling. Auckland won the toss and decided to pus Wellington first on the defence.
