ST. ANDREW’S NEW MANSE.
LOCAL FIRM SUCCESSFUL. The tender for the erection .of the new manse for St. Andrew’s Church has been let, Messrs Wharmby and Williams being the successful contractors. In all nine tenders were received for the contract, six of them being from outside firms and it is very gratifying that the local firm of Messrs Wharmby and Williams have secured the work. The various tenders are as follows, the figures in brackets being extra for all heart timber:— J. A. Wright, Hastings, £3600 (£135);. Thos. Styles, Hastings, £2400 (£35); ■Henderson and Wyatt, Hastings. £2119 (£45); J. A. Ferguson, Feilding, £2175 (£69); W. A. Chambers, Waipukurau, £2616 (£54); Benner and Bendeich, Waipukurau, £2026/9/- (£52/3/); A. Hampton, Hastings,. £2380) £115); W. S. Thackery, Waipawa, £2002 (£49); .Wharmby and Williams, Waipukurau, £1938/16/- (£53/18/-). Accepted tender Messrs Wharmby •and Williams, Waipukurau, £1992/14/-. The plan decided on provides for a seven-roomed house with all conveniences. ' The architect is Mr Campbell of Hastings.
