FOOTBALL.

[by “.slow tom.”] The Waipukurau team were unable to make the trip to Porangahau to-day, several of its members being absent from town. They intend to play a return match with Takapau shortly. A team of “Has-Beens” has challenged them to a friendly game in aid of the club’s funds. A record gate and a good, interesting game, should be the result. Rumour has it that two of our local rear division contemplate entering the ranks of the Benedicts at no distant date, and talk of retiring from the game, but as their happy intendeds aio keen followers of our national game we need not trouble on that score.
