TREASURE ISLAND.

o A SEARCH PIRATE’S GOLD. Captain Small, who created widespread interest by navigating across the Atlantic with the assistance of only one man, in a 42ft yawl, in an endeavour to recover hidden Spanish treasure, said to be valued at over a million sterling, has not yet abandonded his project. On reaching New' York Captain Small was recalled to England through the illness of his son, and a desire to refill his exchequer. In the meantime the sturdy little craft which took the adventurous skipper and his mate across the Atlantic, is anchored at Greenville, New Jersey. Captain Small intends to leave Liverpool shortly to resume his quest for gold. The hardy sailor’s' objective is one of a chain of islands in the Spanish Main, where Latrobe, the famous pirate of a hundred years ago, is said to have buried his hoard of illgotten wealth. Armed with a chart which he asserts will enable him to reach tlwexact spot, Captain Small is extremely optimistic as to the success of his expedition, He is certainly no wiki dreamer by nature. He is a typical mariner broad-shouldered, quiet, and doggedly determined. “ 1 certainly hope to eventually find the treasure, else I should not have taken all the trouble I have done, or be prepared to return, as I am, to continue the voyage,” he remarked to a Liverpool press representative. “ When Igo over to New York again in a few days’ time, I intend taking the yawl to Coney Island for the summer season in order to raise more funds for the expenses of the voyage. I shall recommence my voyage of discovery in October.” It is interesting to note that, through the publicity given to the yawl’s voyage across the Atlantic, Angus Horn, the only man who accompanied Captain Small, discovered his wife in Ne.w York after he had given her up as dead.
