-Ed ward Lloyd, the famous tenor, once had an amusing experience. He was invited to an informal little gathering at a friend’s house and his host asked him as a great favour to sing them a song, which Mr Lloyd accordingly did. While he was singing, the Rector of the parish came in, and stood listening in evident appreciation. As soon as the song was finished he walked across to the singer, quite unaware who-,lie was, and said : “ Really, sir, you should not waste your voice like this. We need another good tenor in our choir, and I shall be happy to give you £3O a year. Will you think it over ?” Lloyd promised that he would. And since he has not yet accepted the offer, he is -probably still thinking.
