HOSPITAL BOARD.

The quarterly meeting of the Hospital Board was held on Thursday at the office of the Patangata County Council. As the tenders received for the additions to the hospital greatly exceeded the architects’ estimate, it was decided to call for fresh tenders immediately. The chairman of the Board said he had made inquiries regarding ferro-concrete, and he found there need be no fear of dampness. A letter from the matron was read asking that the salaries of the nurses be increased. It was decided to grant the application, the increases to date from July Ist. A copy of the balance-sheet of the Dannevirke Hospital was read, and the secretary was instructed to write and ask for particulars regarding the salaries of the staff. The pay-sheet, amounting to £175, was passed for payment.
