There were no football in. Waipukurau on Saturday. The championship match on Saturday at Napier attracted a lot of attention. The Te Ante boys< had a strong following,, but contrary to expectations the Ahurirismothered their chances and left very few openings, and the gameended—Ahuriri 10, Te Aute. By this match the Ahuriri hold theSenior Championship for the season.
The Waipawa Juniors defeatedthe Napier City Juniors at Napierby 6 points to s—-two tries to one(converted). The game was an interesting one.
The interprovincial match,. Auckland v. Canterbury, was played at the northern city on Saturdaylast, and resulted in a most decisive victory for the Northerners by 29 points to 6- In the first spelly. with a good wind at their back,, Canterbury scored two tries to one,, but when ends were ehanged they werr completely vanquished.
Wanganui and Manawatu rep. teams met at Wanganui on Saturday last, the home team winning by 6 points to 3. The standard of play, it is reported,, wrs poor and uninteresting.
A petition to the Government against the legalisation of the totalisator is to be circulated throughtout the colony by the AV. C.T.U.- The president, Mrs Cole, in making ’this announcement at & Christchurch meeting, said the women of the colony intended to work hard to get a petition as large as that for the female franchise. This, was signed by 33,000 women.
