SENIORS. WAIPUK- v. WAIPAWA. Waipukurau 8. Waipawa 5. (Blue.) ( Red -) On Wednesday afternoon the third contest between the above teams took place on the local ground before a large number ot

spectators, tne weather being perfect- Waipawa defended the western goal. In the first spell, from a mark Sharpiu kicked a nice goal, but failed with a mark by Lambert; For Waipawa, Ryan got a try and Glasgow converted. About the middle of the second spell, .1 Bailey got behind the posts amid great excitement; Sharpin placed a neat goal. The game was fast and wellcontested throughout. I'he Blues played well to a man, though perhaps the most prominent were — B. Kelleher, Bailey, Pirie, Sharpin. Murty, Wilder, and Mitchell. Mr Gooseman refereed, while Messrs Chambers and O’Reilly acted as line umpires. JUNIORS. Waipawa 9. Waipukurau 0. The home team was outclassed. Play was fairly good in the first spell, but dull in the second. For the winners, tries were obtained by Nepe, R Ferguson, and Cross; none converted- In the second spell, G. Lomas made a good attempt at goal from a mark, but failed. Mr G. Lomas was referee, and Messrs Graham and O’Reilly line umpires. THIRDS. Waipawa 14. Waipukurau 0. The Waipawa boys had the game their own way throughout. For the winners Lyon secured a try (converted) ; three natives secured a try each. NOTES. Mr G. H. Graham has been requested by the H.B. Rugby Union to postpone all matches until after the funeral of the Premier. Mr G. Lomas, the local coach, has been warmly congratulated on Waipukurau seniors capital victory on Wednesday. A footballer has written about an alleged biassed report that appeared in another journal. — Received. A Wellington visitor at the football match says of Mr Gooseman : —“ One of the best referees I have seen.”
