NOTES.
Lillywhite’s “ All Black ’’ ball is the latest in match balls. Instead of the familiar four-quartered oval, it has five pieces of leather in its construction, one being a strip that runs right round the longest circumference of the ball. The ends are blunter than is usual, the object being to give the ball a true flight, instead of the erratic movement at times associated with the ordinary “ match ” bail. The new ball is used in Wellington.
