A Sand-off

Mr Montgomery, late of Mr Mitchell’s drapery department, was given a seim-off at Craven’s board-ing-house on Wednesday night- A pleasant time was spent. He has left for Dunedin.

Mr D. Brennan, on behalf of friends, presented him with a pair of gold mounted greenstone links, and euologised the recipient’s many qualities, expressing regret at his departure and wishing him every success in the future.

Mr Montgomery, m expressing his thanks for their kindness, regretted very much leaving this district, but hoped that he would be able to return to renew their aquaintances. During the evening songs were given by Messrs Arnott, Pirie, J. Hitchins, Kelleher, Brennan and Henderson ; Mr R. Staines the sailor’s hornpipe.
