A GROWL.
[To the Editor.] Sih,—T am a light sleeper, otherwise you would not get this complaint, I think that now the dogs have been registered they ought to behave themselves belter. The other night there was an awful rumpus near my house—about forty “ kuris,” all and colours, engaged in a terrific uproar, Why these household pets should choose my lawn for a midnight canine concert I can ’t make out. Unless they were celebrating the acquisition of new collars. Alany of the Waipu kurau dogs are very bad mannered, I’m a-thinking. This melodious performance eventually ceased, however, and I was again almost in the arms of Morpheus when the borough motor-car, with rheumatic tyres, scurried past. This upset me again for a time, and after the cocks had ceased crowing I managed to get an hours nap, and had to get up beautifully fresh for toil. I’m thankful I’m not in revolutionary Russia, where, ’tis said, some folk don’t get any sleep for quite a number of nights- — Yours very respectably, Polar Bear-
