Device to Catch Horse.
—o — A simple device for catching horses can be made as folows (says a writer in a contemporary) : —Put a surcingle round the horse, and pass a strap—a dog collar would do — under the surcingle and then round one of the horse’s forelegs, and null tight enough to let the horse know it is there. Or, if the horse is saddled, pass a strap under the girth and round his foreleg. He will feed readily enough, but looks strangely unhappy ano cramped. Whether a horse would get used to the dodge in time, and take no notice of it, I cannot say, only having seen one horse with it on. 1 was told that he was very hard to catch till the owner tried this plan, since when he would let anyone walk up to him day or night. In fact, the horse would not get out of the way if he was wanted to, and had worn the surcingle and strap for some six or seven weeks.
