TOWN BOARD.

( 'l This Day. The Waipukurau Town Board met at the Town Hall this morning. Present —Commissioners W. C. Chambers (chairman), Bailey, J. Staines, Gon*, Williams, Mitchell and Seymour. Letter read on behalf of Mr O’Donohue, applying for permission to fence section in front of Town Hall through which a road ran. — Resolved (Gore — Bailey), that consideration be held over till plan of town be procured. Clerk. —Mr G. B. Ashley was appointed clerk, on the motion of Com’r Williams, seconded by Com r Gore. Office.—Offers of a room for Board office were received from the owners of the Town Hall, Church of England schoolroom, Oddfellows’ Hall, and Mackay & Co. After discussion Mr Mackay’s offer [ £8 per year] was'accepted. Mr G. W. L. Mackay applied for an auctioneer’s license. —Granted. Dog Collars. —The tender of J. A. Blom for supplying dog collars [7-n-d each] was accepted. Mr Eox was appointed registrar of dogs. Resolved, that the clerk be treasurer and rate-collector. Meetings. —On Com’r Bailey’s motion, seconded by Comir Gore, it was resolved that the monthly meetings of the Board be held on the first Monday in the month, at 7 30 p.m. The Board decided to take out a workman’s accident insurance policy for £l5O, also a fidelity guarantee for £5O. During a short discussion on rates, the chairman said a lid rate (including hotel license) would bring in £296, and after paying wages, etc., there would be about £9O for sundries. The Town Board then met the Road Board for the purpose of making an adjustment of affairs as between the two bodies. Mr Norris was present on behalf of the Town Board, and Mr Lee for the Road Board. Discussion lasted some time. The conference had not concluded when we went to press.
