CRICKET.

—o Waipukurau A v. Daunevirke B. To be played at Dannevirke tomorrow ; team leaves by the 7 a m. train. A Team : Sharpin, Wilson, Smith, Wolstenholme, Pettit, McCorkindale, Bibby, Tipping, Godfray, Kelleher, J. Bailey. Emerg: F. Bailey, G. Pirie. NOTES. [By Square Leg ] B TEAM. Kelleher was in good form at Norsewood, and treated the Norsemen to some lively leather-hunting. McCorkindale was also in good form with the bat, and with Kelleher put on 32 runs for their wicket. Wilder had bad luck, being given out l.b.w. first ball. The fielding of the Waipuk men was poor, and no doubt accounted for their defeat. Several catches were dropped, and batsmen took full advantage of them, Pirie was in good trim with the ball, and was well backed up by J. Bailey. A TEAM. The good old veteran Wolstenholme again came to light in the Ormondville match, and saved his side a great deal by putting together 50 runs in a businesslike manner. He is on form the best bat we have in Waipuk club. Chambers hit hard for his 18, and with practice will be a great help to his team. It is a pity Godfray cannot give us a taste of the form he displays at practice. Sharpin was not in so good form with the ball as he has shown right through the first round ; no doubt ft was not his day on. Wilson*and Sharpin also shaped well, and with Wolstenholme and Chambers were the only ones to receive double figures. Chambers was in great trundling form, and his average of nine wickets for 15 runs was a good performance. The teams are very backward as far as practice is concerned, and certainly want stirring up before they play Hastings and Napier, which I am sure with practice would still add to their list of wins.
