Shaping Disaster.
„ A sad fatality occurred at Wellington heads. The scow Oban, 40 ton s from Blind Bay to Wellington coal laden, was entering harbour under tow of the steamer Duco at about 9 o’clock, and when a mile inside, or about abreast of the Pinnocks, was observed from the fug to be steering badly. The tug dropped back on the scow, and hailed her. There was no response, ami it was then discovered that the scow’s crew of three nun’ had been swept overboard, whether by a sea or the tow rope, is not known. The weather was boisterous, and the tug failed to bring the scow into the harbour, leaving her in Worser Bay, where she now lies badly strained. Captain D. W. McKenzie, of Auckland, was in charge of the scow, but the names of the two men whom he engaged are not known. Mr E. G. Pilcher, of Wellington, owns the scow.
