Croat An nnlacfau.— VovjhgM London, Sept, 7 RiiPLYiNti to a correspondent regarding the advance in the price- of bread, Mr Chamberlain stated that theso advances were independent of taxation, The cost of bread depended wholly on supply and demand, Ho added: "If we continue to leave ourselves in the hands of a monopoly we must expect rises. Tho remedv consists of opening now sources of supply by preferential arrangement with tho colonics," London, Sept. 7 Eefeninpjto the proposal to establish an Australian house in London, Mr Chamberlain said that the matter was one for the colonial Governments to determino, but rejoiced that all tho evidenco was for closer union with tho colonics for practioal and administration purposes.
