There was a fine crowd at His Majesty’s this morning, to witness the contest between Jim Mitchell, the nOlder • (Mil.’ertonl. and M. Ryan (Napier), for the heavyweight professional boxing championship of New Zealand. Tie fight was sharp and sudden, Mit:hell winning in two minutes, the refe-ee stepping in before, the end of -the first round to prevent ,Ryan receiving unnecessary punishment. ( However) the spectators haef no reason to - complain of the quality-of the sport provided.
