(By Telegraph.) (From Our Special Reporter.) HAWERA, November 8. The, annual Show of the Egmont A. and P. Association opened here to-day in fine but windy and overcast weather. The attendance was about the usual for the first day. On tho whole the entries were very, good; the classes, with very few executions, being filled’well. The stock shown is of a very representative nature, most of the best breeders? in the Taranaki and Wellington provinces being represented. Cattle is an exceptionally strong section. In the fat cattle classes, Mr G. F. M<>ore of Kai Iwi, scooped the pool, annexing six firsts and four seconds, with eleven on tries. Hugh Middleton, of Waverley, had one beast entered, and he secured a second with it. In Shorthorns, G. A. Turner (Eltham) and R. B. Hamilton (Manutahi) were the principal exhibitors, and they divided. the prize / honours, the former gaining the bull' championship. In Hereforda, G. F. Moore, of Kai Iwi, was the. only exhibitor, and he was awarded six firsts, besides the championship and reserve champiouahhip. The Holstein Freisans classes were well filled, principally with entries from Newton King fNcw Plymouth), and W. J. Lovelock (Palmerston"). The former was awarded the championship, with the bull and the latter the resermve; while in the cows this order was reversed. Jerseys and Ayrshircs were very well filled by,-local breeders, and the com-' petition that marked all the other dairy ing breeds was also shown here. Aberdeen Angus wore very weaklv supported, H. E. Harris (Hawera) and J. H. Sellars (dViawa) being the, most successful prize-tak-ers. J. C. Wright, of Matapu, was the most prominent breeder in the purebred Shorthorn classes, and he dieted the prize honours of the section with Moore-Hunt-er’s Estate (Hawera). In the class for heifer calved since July, 1910, one of the strongest m tho section. David Flemiro-, of Waverley, was awarded a third. The fat sheep, judged by Mr T. Bamber (Wanganm). wore a very good lot, several fine animals competing for the -honours. A E, and A. Svmes, of Waverley, wore the most successful exhibitors in this section, five firsts, two seconds and two thirds gome to then- credit.
