Tie Chief Justice to-day dismissed the >cal of the Fresh Food and Ice Comly against its conviction for selling k adulterated with water. Sir Robert ut said the statute threw the responsiity for the sale of food on the vendor, absence of mens rea was not open to defendant coiripany unless it proved rmatively that it had taken all rea.sone steps so that the sale would not confute an offence, or to obtain a written •ranty as to the article to be sold.
