A gathering of railway employees was held at the car and waggon office, Wanganui, to-day, for the purpose of presenting Mr. J. Jenkins (who has now retired after having served 28 years in the Railway Department) with a pair of binoculars in token of the regard in which lie is held by his fellow employees, Mr. Allen, the car and waggon" inspector, made the presentation with a few suitable remarks as to the excellent maimer in which the recipient had carried out his duties, to which Mr. Jenkins feelingly replied.
