COUNTY COUNCIL NOMINATIONS

WAITOTARA COUNTY. Judging by nominations for the scats on the Waitotara County Council, very little interest is being manifested in county maters, as in every riding only the sitting members were nominated, and there wifi therefore be no elections. The nominations are as follow: Brunswick Eiding (two). —Messrs W Ritchie and D. Ross. Waitotara Riding (three).—Messrs S. O. Handley, W. Morrison, and C. G. Russell. Westmero Eiding (two).—Messrs J. -Dempsey and G. Mitchell. Tokomam Eiding (one).—Mr W. Connor. Hospital Board Member.—Mr W. Ritchie (sitting member), unopposed. WANGANUI COUNTY. Much more interest is manifested in the Wanganui County, and elections will have to be held in both the Puma and Kaukatca electorates. In the former the sitting member, Mr C. S. Burnett, who is the only council member in favour of the .Harbour Bill, is being opposed by Messrs John McGregor and E. H. Whiteman, and it is expected that the main issue at the election will be the opposition or support of that measure. The election in the Kaukatea Eiding is between Messrs Jas. Higgle and W. Neilson. The nominations received are as follow: Maugawhero Eiding (two).—Messrs D. Mason (sitting member) and Fred. 11. Allen. Mr H. M. Sneed, the other sitting member, is not seeking re-election. Mangamahu Riding (one). —Mr W. J. Poison (re-elected). Puma Riding (one). —Messrs C. S. Burnett (sitting member), John McGregor, and E. H. Whiteman. ” Kaitoke Eiding (one).—Mr E. E. Fletcher (sitting member). Eaukatea Eiding.—Messrs James Higgle (sitting member) and W. Neilson. Wangaehu Eiding.—No nomination. Mr H. Y. Collier, the sitting member, was late in handing in his nomination form, but it is very probable that he will stand when the nominations are again called for. Messrs Allen, Robinson and E. E. Fletcher, who represented the County on t> " Hospital Board, were re-elected unopposed.
