HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

A committee meeting of the above was bold last evening, when there was a large attendance. HALL.—Owing to the Drill Hall being required for military training, the Trustees notified that same would not be available for the spring show on November 22 and 23 next. It was decided to ask tho Agricultural Association to allow the Somet" to use their Produce Hall for the show. • ENTERTAINMENTS.—Messrs Boud and Doig were appointed a committee to arrange for entertainments, and Mr W. Mrfilwain was appointed to take charge of the side shows. REFRESHMENTS. —The appointing of a committee to take charge of the refreshments was left in the hands of Mr Bond. STEWARDS, The following head stewards were appointed : —Pot plants, Mr Sperring; schools.. Miss Hylton; cut flowers. Mr Haase; vegetables and fruit, Mr and Mrs Sykes; home industries, Mesdamos McMurray and Notman; decorative. Miss McMurray; supervisor, Mr A. Doig. OUTDOOR COMPETITIONS.—The matter of holding outdoor classes—decorated go-carts, bicycles, etc., was brought up by Mr Haase, and it was decided to hold these, and Messrs Haase. Robertson, and Rice were appointed a committee to arrange same. Prize money to the amount' of .£3 was allotted. JUDGES—The following gentlemen were appointed judges,-subject to their accenting the positions;— Cut flowers, Mr Woioditman ; pot plants, Mr Goodson ; decorative, Mr Wallace; home industries, Mr Dustin; vegetables and fruit, Mr Benefield, senr. ; SCHObLS.—The admittance for schools and. colleges was fixed at 6d. BANDS.—It was decided to ask the bands to help at the show. OPENlNG.—Resolved that his Worship the Mayor be asked to open the show. CARNATIONS.—It was pointed out that many growers raising carnations from seed did not know the names of same. After some discussion it was resolved that exhibitors have the right to name their own s edlings.
