The railwaymen at Leeds, Chester, Northampton, Burton-ori-Trent, Cardiff and Swansea are repudiating the Commission’s findings, and have instructed their executives tp. seek immediate redress, by a strike if necessary. Mr. Keir Hardie, speaking at Sunderland, hoped the railwaymen would trust the leaders to deal with.the disappointing report and loyally accept the findings. Unity was the one thing essential. It was better patiently to await it than to spoil the outlook by rashness. If a strike was inevitable, joint action with the colliers'should be secured. This combination would beat all powers, including the: military, that could be brought against them. ; : A RESIGNATION DEMANDED. Received October 31, 8.5 a.m. 1 LONDON, October 30. A railwayman’s meeting at Swansea demanded the resignation of Mr Williams, general secretary, as a member of the Industrial Council, A DENIAL. LONDON, October 30. Mr Thomas, organising secretary, of the Western District, at a meeting at Crewe, denied that the men’s/representatives had pledged themselves to accept the findings. His advice was that managers be appointed to discuss the report with the men’s representatives, eliminate the bad,- adopt the goods, and thus prevent a disastrous strike. WARNING THE PUBLIC. “Prepare for Paralysed Service.” LONDON, October 30 Mr Ramsay Mac Donald, speaking at Chester, said that unless the grievances were properly discussed, the public must be prepared for the consequences, namely, a paralysed railway service. "AGITATION JUST BEGINNING.” LONDON, . October 30. Mr. Bellamy, speaking at Glasgow, declared that the; railwaynien’s agitation was just beginning. It would be no twenty-four hours’ job next time.
